81-year-old woman defrauded of at least 4.3 million kroner by police impersonator

What happened: Copenhagen Vestegn Police reported that a 32-year-old woman was convicted after defrauding an 81-year-old woman from Taastrup of at least 4.3 million Danish kroner. Over several weeks in spring 2025, the offender posed as being from the police, among other claims, and manipulated the victim into handing over large sums. A concerned neighbour alerted police, and an intensive investigation stopped the fraud after significant losses had already occurred.
