Elderly woman hands over €6,000 after fake accident call about her son

What happened: Carabinieri in Avellino reported that an 80-year-old woman in Andretta was called by a man pretending to be a lawyer. He said her son had been involved in a serious accident and that a Carabinieri marshal would shortly collect cash and valuables. The alleged collector arrived after the urgent call, taking €6,000 before Carabinieri intervened, arrested a suspect, and returned the money to the woman.
